Brain Food

Is this filler? You bet. Is this my way of avoiding posts with substance? Definitely. And is this an attempt at soliciting participation? Sadly. Hopefully, this will catch on. Anyway, we’ll start off with an easy puzzle.

A book costs $1 plus half its price. How much does it cost?

Next question after a week, or when somebody gets it right (fame and glory included). =)

    Super-big-almost-giving-away-the-answer-but-not-quite hint: algebra.

  4. You lied… this isn’t brain food, it’s brain food poisoning.

  5. 66 cents recurring?

  6. Alright I’m just going to get the obvious and wrong answer out of the way.

    $1.50?

    Yes, I know it’s wrong… you dont have to rub it in my face.

  7. I’m not the gloating type. My character is better than that. =(

    The hint a few replies above may come in handy.

  8. Okay, I did some algebra and I got $2.

  9. Congrats to Llora-chan – the book is $2.

    If 2A is the price of the book, then
    2A = 1 + A
    A = 1
    So the book costs $2.

    There is usually method to madness.

  10. Yay! ^^ I’m glad I know algebra.

  11. Wow…damn that’s obvious…
