Brain Food – Seconds, Please

Tomorrow’s post today so I can slack off. Hence, it shall be dated with tomorrow’s date. WordPress’ date stamp is a lie. However, the cake is not.  (If you’re wondering about my mental state, I’m wondering about it too. I’m always like this when I just wake up – incoherent and delirious.)

#2 – July 16th, 2008

A man and his wife have five children. Half of them are boys. How is this possible?

Also, many thanks to everyone who ventured a guess in the last puzzle (Llora-chan got it on her second try). Solution is posted in Comment #9.

Update: Because I didn’t expect anyone to get the last one so soon.

#3 – Still July 16th, 2008

A horse travels a certain distance each day. However, two of its legs travel 30 km while the other two travel 31 km. Since the horse is quite normal, how is this possible?

  1. Gaa~ Let’s see… “Half of them” doesn’t necessarily have to mean ONLY “half of them.” And since 5 is an odd number it wouldn’t work out evenly unless one of them was half a boy and half a girl.
    So they are ALL boys.

  2. Also, about the date stamp…
WordPress is at a different time than we are. Right now, it’s still July 15th for me. But for WordPress, it’s already July 16th.
There’s a way to change it so that your WordPress matches your time, but I can’t figure that out.

  3. #1. Try using that logic on Mr Mac’s tests, son.
#2. it’s going in circles, or in some other curved path such that the legs on the inside travel a shorter distance than those on the outside.

  4. moar plz =)

  5. The horse isn’t normal. It’s retarded.

  6. Alright, Llora-chan and samosa got #2 and #3 respectively.

samosa: If we assume that I am inherently intelligent, then it is my environment which accounts for my mediocre data performance. Your class was generally smarter than mine.

blissmo: the horse is retarded. Or very dense to walk for 30km in a circle.
